TCRP x Helen Clark

March 13, 2012

It was an honour to sit among Singapore’s young leaders and activists at yesterday’s informal roundtable featuring guest speaker, UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) Administrator Helen Clark*.

Hosted by SIIA (Singapore Institute of International Affairs) & SMU, the session focused on emerging trends in Singapore and around the world, on pressing challenges ranging from social development to sustainability.

Is the government doing enough to support Social Enterprises and Non Profit Organizations?

What impact will the 2011 elections have on the future of Singapore and how has it changed the face of the politics?

Are Singaporeans no longer satisfied with material wealth, but beginning to search instead for a deeper meaning to their lives?

What would have been your answers to some of the questions raised?

Food for thought.

*Helen Clark became the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme in April 2009, and is the first woman to lead the organization. She is also the Chair of the United Nations Development Group. Prior to her appointment with UNDP, Helen Clark served for nine years as Prime Minister of New Zealand, serving three successive terms from 1999 – 2008.
