TCRP 2012: Nick & Hui’s Excellent Adventure

November 7, 2012

Nick & Hui’s Excellent Adventure kicked off on October 11th with a fund raising event at Lenovo Singapore, where they work.

They sponsored a delicious nasi lemak meal for 70 people, gave out corporate premiums to the 1st 60 donators, and in exchange got 40 mins of undivided attention from their fellow colleagues. They also enlisted the help of the general manager to rally the crowd.

TCRP’s mission of finding a cause, having an effect, and being a catalyst, really tied in with Lenovo’s corporate culture of ‘For Those Who Do’.

Thus as aspiring catalysts and ‘doers’, Nick and Hui-E set a goal of raising $3100 to support Sala Bai. Additionally Hui-E needed a challenge to breakthrough her maximum running limit of 3.5km and Nick thought the challenge of running 21km would test his endurance in the wild tropics of South East Asia!

These were the challenges that they pledged:

1. RAISE $1000: Wear Comical Running Shorts during the Marathon

2. RAISE $2000: Post a ‘Gangnam Style’ Music Video shot at AngKor Wat to Facebook

3. RAISE $3100: Nick not shave for 1 month in November and groom a funky moustache AND Hui-e to ‘Get INKED’ with a Tattoo of her choice.

4. RAISE $4000+: Nick to Shave his head bald (YES BALD) and Hui-E to cut her long hair to shoulder length!

Within 26 hours, they raised $3120 and as of 25 Oct, they have raised $3860. Their donation drive will end before the trip, so they hope to get more funds.
