TCRP FIELD NOTES:
From the time we spent researching organizations that deal with Human Trafficking in the Philippines, we found that VFF was highly regarded by both the local and international community for the work that they do in this field. Our visits to the VFF centers in Davao and Manila, as well as to the ‘Centre of Hope’, gave us further insight into and a deeper respect for the scope and efficacy of the organization’s work on the ground.
While in the Philippines we had the chance to speak with Cecilia Flores-Oebanda, founding president of VFF, and globally recognized human rights advocate. She is also a multi-awarded freedom fighter and international expert on human trafficking, child labour and domestic work.
QUOTE:
TCRP Co-founder, Alex recounts her experience at VFF:
Meeting Cecilia was a very inspiring and enlightening experience. Her life story of strength and resilience in the face of extreme adversity, really affirmed our decision to work with VFF, knowing that the organization is being led by such a strong and passionate woman.”
